Thought for the Day

Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.

-Samuel Taylor Coleridge

A Reminder

Our Lodge Officers were installed Saturday and we celebrated the Christmas season at the Lodge with a fine meal and good fellowship. The Lodge also participated in the Amelia Christmas Parade on Sunday. The next month will have our stated meeting on the 12th of January and our Annual Inspection on the 26th. Our Inspection will be in the Fellowcraft degree. The meal will be at 6:00 p.m. and the work starts at 7:00 p.m., which I believe will be the times for all the inspections this year.
Brethren, I think we sometimes get caught up in all the preparation and fuss attendant upon the holidays and forget the real meaning of the season in which we find ourselves. Let us remember this simple but powerful message mankind received so long ago:

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Mark 2:8-11 KJV
May the spirit of Christmas be with you and all mankind. May peace be upon the earth and our protectors be home soon.

Brothers,
This is the first posting I have for the new Masonic Year. I want to invite all who are reading this to our open installation on Saturday, Dec. 12th at 4:00 p.m. at the Lodge. There will be dinner afterwards and a visit from Santa. We will also have music from some of the Bluegrass musicians who participated in our Bluegrass jam sessions during the past summer, which were received very well. The evening will include our Adopt-A-Family presentation which our Lodge has had for a number of years. This is another of our attempts to reach out to the community and make the Lodge's presence better known. At our stated meeting last night we had a list of the goals our incoming Master, Paul Britton, has for the upcoming year. We will have a Fellowcraft practice next Tuesday at the Lodge at 7:00 p.m. for the newly elected officers.

Karl Phillips announced our (6th) Masonic District will be hosting a car show August 29th. Details will be forthcoming. Grand Lodge has announced the use of District Education Officers this year, which had been discontinued for the past few years. Our DEO's are WB Dave Shipman from Georgetown Lodge and WB Vern Wagoner from New Richmond Lodge. As I am the Lodge Education Officer this year, I look forward to working with our newly appointed DEO's and hope to have some good educational material for the Lodge this year.

That's about all I have for now. I will try to keep this blog updated and as informative as I can. Hope to see you soon.
